MalOvent is an adult horror visual novel centered around SCP-1471. Over the course of play you'll be presented with choices that matter not only for you as the main character, but for the greater world around you. Will you be able to unearth the truth before the walls come crashing down?

For the time being there is only the English version of the game available. Translations into other languages will be addressed in the final builds of this project (i.e. v0.3 and beyond).
All music and SFX were generated specifically for this project by DJLC & Caelan Serrano. You shouldn't run into any copyright issues if you stream or post your playthrough to YouTube! Though if you do, let us know ASAP!

Install instructions
For Windows and Linux, Extract and run MalOventAlpha.exe
For Mac, Extract the .zip, right click on MalOventAlpha.app, and select Open
For Android, you will need to sideload or use whatever magic you normally do to install non-Play Store .apk files. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, I've been told this website explains things rather well.

My only gripe is I found out about this VN too early because it's fucking GAS and I want more! I'm really excited for Act 2!

I appreciate that the MC doesn't go straight from "holy shit I'm being stalked by a weirdo" to "AWOOOGA" as soon as he sees that mal0 is vaguely feminine. Feels very believable, I'm pretty excited for this one!
Nice story, great art, cute "wolf skull girl". The 90 hour mark and subsequent end of the demo left me feeling cockblocked and heartbroken, hoping the next update comes very soon
There is a roadmap in the log, it says presumably in the third quarter of 2024. It's pretty vague how much will a chapter be in terms of content, but we'll see. I'm pretty sure it will be plenty worth the wait.

While this was a feature on A Fortnight at Frenni Fazclaire's, this will not be present in MalOvent.

Also, I am fine with disassembling the apk if I have to, but an in game gallery for the pictures would be a nice feature to have.
Apart from that, the potential seems massive here, I'll be curious to see where the game will go. Thanks for your service so far, keep up the good work!
Since it is still quite early in development, I feel like I should point out that in my personal opinion, the fur of Mal0 is way too pale in it's current form, which, although helps with contrast, is not very fitting for her in my opinion.
I would suggest that a darker tone would work better for her, and I think most Mal0 enthusiasts would agree.
Or you could compromise, just a bit.
Just the teeeeniest of bit. But again, just suggesting. (Would be really cool tho.)
Long story short im hooked on this VN
The game shows a lot of promise, I can tell ya I'm already hooked! Shame there wasn't any actual NSFW, but um sure we'll get enough of that in at least another update or two if the full version doesn't immediately drop. One nit-pick I have about it though is that Mal0, or Scp-1471, is very hard to spot in the first couple pictures, and then a couple after that, afterwards however it's kinda hard to miss her. I do have decent eyesight and glasses, but it felt like playing Where's Waldo at first, still very enjoyable and will patiently wait for the next update!
unfortunately, I do not understand English, but I am waiting for the full version and if I understood correctly from one of the comments, then there will be a translation into Russian in the release

Agreed, but her fur IS kinda pale though is it not? Compared to her hair, even if it's grayscale, this is so bright, it's practically white... not sure how I feel about that.

What platform are you on?
so far, I love the game and the fact that it revolves around mal0 makes it even better i especially love how fluffy the tail is. However I've noticed a very strange issue, the screen is cut in half and the bottom half is pushed to the right so the top and bottom of the screen aren't lined up. No clue if I can do something to fix this or not but any suggestions are appreciated.
Huh, that's a new one! We've noticed that if you click too fast through some transitions weird things can happen. If you can replicate this screen tear or at least get it to pop up multiple times, we can figure out a possible fix!
I can easily replicate it as all I need to do is launch the game. For some reason without doing anything and from the first time I launched the game it's always been like that. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall to see if the download was messed up in some way. Another note that I didn't put in the first comment is that it seems only background things are effected, for example when a character pops up behind the text box like when you view mal0 through the camera that's not cut in half but everything behind it is. while the mal0 pictures you're sent are cut in half. I'm bad at explaining things so I'll grab more pictures to show what I mean when I can and add them to this comment.

I'm back with results and it kind of worked. The tearing is gone but now the game crashes when trying to load or start a new save, basically anything past the title screen. I'm joining the discord now and will also try to get an android emulator working to see if maybe my computer just doesn't like this specific version.
I haven't had much luck with visual novels but this one already has me hooked. Good writing, good art (got a new desktop wallpaper now) and music that really sets the tone.
Definitely will be looking forward to updates.
Finally, a good Mal0 game. I kinda wish it was more interactive though, but a completely linear visual novel can also be good.
